Updating the outdated

I love following the One Room Challenge that Calling It Home hosts in the Spring.

It is such a treat to follow some amazing designers as they transform a room in only 6 weeks.

The results are drastically different and inspiringly creative.

Some of my favorites are The English Room, Bijou & Boheme, The Pink Pagoda, and Parker Kennedy Living.

When we built our house a few years ago, the room that did not receive any love or special treatment was the Living Room.

All of our old furniture, rug and pillows moved right into their new home, and with a fresh coat of paint, they actually had a new look.

However, the upholstered furniture was looking a little worn, faded, and frankly outdated.

I decided to have my own version of this challenge, and I hope that you will enjoy following along as I update the look,

make it more fresh and clean,

and thus making it my new favorite room in which to enjoy a nice glass of Pinot Noir soon!!

Let's start with the rug, shall we?  I fell in love with this rug 12 years ago for our Living Room.

Don't judge.

Old Living Room Rug

I loved the putty gray background, the "Aztec" feel, and the soft colors that gave me "endless options."

Sound familiar?

It served a wonderful purpose, and I still have a soft spot for it, but it's time...

Roll out the red carpet

New Sisal Chain Pattern

I chose a new sisal pattern - a CHAIN - which is one of my favorite design patterns.

I haven't seen this rug before, which is another reason why I wanted it.

I like "different" things.  The room is already looking brighter!

The next phase is FURNITURE so stay tuned!
